About Us
Our Journey
MEHER is a family‑owned group, and its name is our way of expressing deep respect, gratitude and tribute to Mrs. MEHER Safiulla - who, along with her husband Mr. B M Safiulla, was the primary motivator for entrepreneurship in our wider family since the mid 1960s. She was committed to excellence in education, the cultivation of entrepreneurship and the fulfillment of social responsibilities.
In 1977, Mrs. Ayesha Wajid along with her father Mr. B M Safiulla, her husband Mr. S A Wajid, both being respected electrical engineers from UVCE, and her son, Mr. Mustafa Wajid incorporated MEHER Capacitors to produce LV Power Capacitors.
Mr. Mustafa Wajid designed and manufactured our first product - the LV Power Capacitor. He later graduated as an electrical engineer from UVCE. He undertook the responsibility of design, innovation, engineering & sales at MEHER, and was instrumental in introducing several new technologies in Capacitors and the Power Quality Management domains, several among them being the first in India.
In the initial days we had the privilege of strong supporting partners - whose presence was essential to the progress of our journey. Among these we would like to specially acknowledge Dr. S M Zaki, Mr. M Rafi Safiulla and Mr. M Ali Safiulla.
From the 1980s onwards - Mrs. Halima Khan, & Mr. Murtaza Wajid, electronics & electrical engineers, joined the Group and evolved into their roles of Group CFO & Group COO respectively. Their role in strengthening MEHER and accelerating the MEHER journey has been critical.
The Group also welcomed its 3rd generation from 2014 onwards - Mrs. Zohra Khan and Mrs. Zeba Khan, both electrical engineers, who now lead the New Energy and Digital Businesses respectively.
Dr. Mariam Murtaza and Mr. Jibran Murtaza have also joined the group from 2023 onwards contributing to MEHER’s Businesses and CSR activities.
The journey of MEHER has been one of growth and diversification with a strong foundation to support ambitious future targets while preserving our unwavering commitment to the highest professional and ethical standards.
Partnerships and Support
Over the years, we have built enduring relationships with a wide network of stakeholders who have played a significant role in our journey. Our customers, many of whom we have had the opportunity to serve repeatedly, have been central to our growth and evolution.
We have collaborated with several leading organisations, gaining valuable insights and implementing global best practices across our operations. Notable among them are NGEF Limited and Larsen & Toubro Limited.
In 2009, our Power Capacitor, Power Factor Correction and Harmonic Filter business was acquired by Schneider Electric. Since then, the business has scaled to a position of global leadership.
Our joint venture partners – Kendeil (Italy), Mangoldt and the Reinhausen Group (Germany), SungHo (South Korea), and DEKI (India) – have been instrumental in enabling us to expand our technological capabilities and market reach.
We remain committed to strengthening these partnerships and building new ones as we continue to scale and innovate for the future.
